De Priest Digest is shifting direction. . . temporarily
Along with city, county and state Black politicians, DD will focus on how we elect judges
When you voted in Cook County Nov. 5th, you noticed that there were 77 contests for judge -75 for circuit and two for Appellate Court. While there is no time limit on how long it takes you to complete your ballot, deciding on all the candidates running local offices, and sifting through at least 77 names can be daunting.
Now, take a minute and ask yourself how long would it take you to name 77 people you actually know. Do you really know that many people; I mean really know? So, does it stand to reason to ask you to make a decision that can change your life when you are in a time crunch?
A judge is the only person who has the authority and power to change your change your life because he or she can
dissolve your marriage
have you evicted from your domicile
garnish your wages
send you to prison or jail
and a plethora of other matters
Can the decision-makers say they are providing the best voting options by deluging them with names that most voters don’t know or have ever heard of
De Priest Digest will attempt, with your input a means to pare the list or judges or at the very least reorganize them into some sort of clusters, or something else. This will start with our subscribers indicating whether they are willing to participate in no more than four polls over the next six months. If you agree to being polled send an email to glenn@stonyislandpolling.com and type JUDGE in the subject line
Hmmmmm....
